The only products I recommend that I can think of that will help a lot more than a simple running shoe, is the Nike Free. They are a very lightweight shoe with a lot of benefits. It's not a great option for many runners as they tend to be more flexible with the shoes. But this is a great choice for people who run on a daily basis. If you want a lighter, more responsive shoe for those times you want to walk, it's the Nike Free. And if you are just looking for the least amount of equipment you can get for running, this is the shoe for you. There are other great shoes like the ASICS Gel Lyte III which can help a lot.
The other shoe I recommend is the Mizuno Vapor Pro. This is the newest shoe to come out of Japan, and I love it. The sole is much stiffer than the Mizuno, and it is very responsive. It also has a super comfortable outsole. The other shoes I recommend that are a little more comfortable for running are the New Balance XC. I also recommend running in your own skin. I have a lot of time and energy to spend on this.
